Green Pool Cleanup Guide for Ormond Beach Homeowners

It happens to the best of us. You go on vacation, or the pump timer breaks, and suddenly your sparkling blue oasis is a green swamp. Algae blooms can happen quickly in Florida's heat, but don't worry—it's fixable. Here is our proven process for turning green pools back to blue.

Step 1: Assess and Treat

First, we test the water to understand the severity of the problem. We then shock the pool with a high dose of liquid chlorine to kill the algae and add algaecide as a booster. We also check the filter to ensure it can handle the cleanup process.

Step 2: Brush and Circulate

Algae clings to walls and floors. We brush the entire pool surface to detach the algae so the chlorine can reach it. We then run the pump 24/7 to filter out the dead algae. This step is crucial—circulation is key to clearing the water.

Step 3: Filter Cleaning and Balancing

As the algae dies, it clogs the filter. We return to clean the filter cartridges or backwash the system. Once the water is clear, we re-test and balance the pH, alkalinity, and stabilizer levels to prevent future blooms.
