Hurricane Season 2025: The Ultimate Pool Protection Guide

With the 2025 hurricane season predicted to be active, now is the time to prepare. Protecting your pool isn't just about saving the water; it's about preventing costly damage to your home and property.
The "Don't Drain" Rule
We can't stress this enough: NEVER drain your pool completely for a storm. The hydrostatic pressure from saturated ground can pop the pool out of the ground like a boat. Keep water levels normal to provide weight and structural support.
Chemical Prep
Add a "shock" dose of chlorine before the storm. You likely won't be able to run the pump for a few days if power is lost, so this extra sanitizer helps prevent the water from turning green immediately. Do not put chlorine tablets in the skimmer, as they can explode if the pump is off for long periods.
After the Storm
Remove large debris by hand or with a net as soon as it's safe. Do not run the pump if the water level is too low or if there is heavy debris in the skimmer. Call us for a post-storm checkup if you suspect equipment damage.
